Pro Directory Will Now Be Searchable Online

  Golf Professionals, we have made an exciting change to our original plan to do a SNAG Pro Directory in a PDF format. It will now be a robust online Directory! 


The Background:  
Our plan was to collect the contact information for SNAG Pros and to compile that data into an quarterly PDF document so clients looking for SNAG lessons could find a Pro in their area. We had hundreds of Pros email us to be a part of the Directory but I know there are many more of you out there that did not get your information to us in time for our deadline.

The Update:

Beginning next week we will offer this searchable Directory electronically on our Consumer website (www.snaggolf.com). It will now be an ever growing resource that can be updated daily to ensure all Pros that are using SNAG instructional material and equipment to teach new learners can be included with no deadlines to worry about.

Along with providing your business more exposure on a daily basis so potential clients can find the SNAG programs they are looking for, we have just partnered with a high profile national initiative that will be promoting activity/sports beginning in January. People interested in learning golf will be given the link to the SNAG Pros Directory--don't you want to be included??

UPS uses SNAG to bring fun to the Life is good Festival!

UPS employees prove their dedication to their communities by giving 1.4 million in recorded volunteer hours each year. From lending their business skills to nonprofits to giving their time to repaint local community centers, UPSers are committed to strengthening their communities. Making a positive changes in the lives of children is also a strong focus for SNAG so it was a natural fit for UPS and SNAG to team up to provide a fun activity for kids to participate in at the recent Life is good Festival benefiting underprivileged kids.  

 

 

We provided Paul Bonin, Marketing Manager for UPS, with equipment for their booth so the kids could have fun playing SNAG!  “Thank you very much for allowing us to borrow the SNAG promotional kit this past weekend.  The event was a huge success and raised over $1 Million to help in the prevention of childhood poverty, violence and illness”, Paul said, “ The reaction of the kids to your product was great.  They loved it. I look forward to speaking with you in the future.”


The Life is good Festival is a one-of-a-kind fundraiser held at Prowse Farm in Canton, MA. This two-day celebration of music and optimism, features three stages of nationally known musical talent, hands-on games, interactive arts activities, and the "Good Kids" zone. 100% of the funds raised and profits from the event go towards the Life is good Playmakers, helping kids overcome poverty, violence and illness.

2012 Pro Directory Submission Deadline Now Closed

Our goal is to help connect potential customers looking for SNAG® Golf  programs to professionals in their area so we not only grow the game of golf but bring new customers to local pros!

 

As you all know, in order to meet increased customer demand for SNAG® Golf Lessons, we are compiling our first SNAG® Pros Directory.  

 

Thank you to all of the Pros that responded to us to be included in the 2012 Directory.  Customers looking for entry level golf will now find your programs more easily!    

 

Here is how the process is going to work: 

 

Tiffanie will email everyone that submitted their information in the next few weeks. (No one has been responded to yet as we were just collecting the mass of emails that were flowing in daily.)  

 

Please make sure to the email address tiffanie@snaggolf.com is added to your safe list. If you do NOT get an email from Tiffanie in the next couple weeks then please contact her again to make sure you are included in the Directory.   

 

If you didn't get your information in for the deadline, never fear...you will have another opportunity in February 2013 when we begin to compile the 2013 Directory.

Our continued focus is to provide Pros helpful resources to create a long-term sustainable model to grow golf at the grass roots level. This month we have a NEW Guide illustrating how to grow golf in your community to help you "SNAG®-A-Community". 

What is SNAG®-A-Community??   

  

Using the SNAG®-A-Community model, each professional (Golf Pro, Recreation Pro, Physical Educator) can become a pillar in their community, raising their own visibility by introducing proven programming that has sustainability. If these dedicated professionals band together, they can have the same impact on the growth of golf that soccer had in the 1980's.

Pro Directory Dealine Extended to July 21st

“Women Helping Women”

EWGA is a national organization committed to “Empowering, Enriching and Energizing Professional Women Through Golf!”


We work closely with EWGA as we feel it is a high caliber organization that can help to grow the game by providing women the opportunity to learn and play golf in their local communities. EWGA is a great way for women interested in golf to build relationships. As Pam says in this video  “EWGA is all about connecting women to learn, play, and enjoy golf for business and for life.”


The EWGA Foundation has launched an outreach program called, “Drive for Dreams” to share their good fortune with those less fortunate through contributions of golf equipment and other resources needed to “Give the Gift of Golf".  Their first fundraising campaign under this initiative was earmarked to benefit a girls golf school run by Kenya’s only female golf professional, Rose Naliaka.


After Pam Swensen, CEO of EWGA, shared with us the inspiring story of Rose Naliaka’s girl’s golf school and her mission to grow girls golf in Kenya we immediately donated a SNAG Golf Coaching Kit so the girls could have fun learning the fundamentals of golf at the school.    


The very generous donations of clubs, shoes, and other items made by EWGA members and golf industry partners were sent over to Kenya and after a long, long journey – and amidst much political upheaval throughout Kenya – the girls finally received the donations.


At the EWGA Conference held at Amelia Island Plantation, the audience heard firsthand from Rose how she uses the game of golf to teach life lessons to girls who otherwise lead a squalid existence in a country rife with HIV and illiteracy where the average life expectancy is only 47 years of age.

 

Rose is still active with her girls golf school in Kenya and she recently took six girls in the program to play in a golf tournament in Mombasa.  "The EWGA Foundation 'Drive For Dreams' opened up a window of opportunity for us and we continue to shine!" , Rose said.

Matt Says "No More Talk, It's Time For Action!"

Matt Murdoch is donating proceeds he earns from playing in golf tournaments as a professional to raise money and awareness for growing the game of golf. The Midwest PGA section is then asking companies and people to match the funds that Matt donates. So far Pepsi and Mercedes Benz will be matching funds.  These proceeds will then go to the Midwest Section Foundation to purchase SNAG Golf Coaching Kits for schools, park and recreation facilities, etc. “We expect to influence up a 80,000 kids in the school districts in the Kansas City area next year,” Matt says, “Our goal is to outfit every school district in our Section with the opportunity to do SNAG, and once we do that the game will really grow again!”

Matt Murdoch, being a golf lover, felt a strong desire to give back to the game that has provided him with so many memories and opportunities so he spoke with Brad Demo, Midwest Section Executive Director, about ways to raise money and awareness for growing the game.  

 Matt felt a lot of money and awareness could be raised by making a personal sacrifice to donate proceeds he earns from playing in golf tournaments as a professional and then asking companies to match funds. Historically, Matt has earned between $5,000 and $12,000 per year and he plans to donate all of these funds to grow the game in his Section.  Companies have been approached to match (a percentage or full match) of what Matt donates. So far Pepsi and Mercedes Benz will be matching funds.

When approaching companies they have found that many of the company executives love to play golf but are truly unaware that the golf industry is struggling. Brad Demo has done much of the fundraising. He approached Pepsi first as he had a prior relationship with them.  Mercedes Benz is a PGA sponsor so they thought it was appropriate to approach them locally.  The reception and response from both companies was extremely positive.  When Pepsi and Mercedes Benz execs asked why Matt, or anyone, would give up all their income from playing in tournaments Brad explained that the golf industry is in trouble and that Matt is very passionate about taking action and not just talking about bringing more people to the game.  


All funds from these efforts go directly to the Midwest Section’s “SNAG-A-School” program.   “We haven’t done a very good job of growing from ground up”, Matt says, “If we start with the kids maybe Mom and Dad will want to play. We need to fill up the pipeline with new golfers since so many are leaving every year.”


The Olathe School District, a suburb of Kansas City, is the first school district that was targeted for the SNAG-A –School program. Program planning and PE Teacher training began 2011 and equipment was delivered in February 2012.  The Section provided 8 Large Group Coaching Kits and they are rotating between area elementary schools, which equates to 20,000 kids being exposed to the basics of golf in a FUN way every year.  Golf Pros win in this scenario as well…other than just a fantastic pipeline of potential new clients, they can also borrow the SNAG Coaching Kit in the summer if they donate their time to help with the SNAG-A-School program during the school year. 

All PE Teachers utilizing the SNAG® Golf equipment and programming have gone through at least 2 training over the past year and the Midwest Section (Matt, Jeff) will continue to follow up each year to ensure they are using the program correctly and get feedback on best practices, etc. Jeff and Matt have committed large amounts of both time and money to this program and are beginning to see how impactful their efforts are in growing the game. This past Saturday they had the first SNAG- A- School tournament, where every school in the district was able to bring a team. “Next year will be even bigger and better with more marketing efforts, sponsors, prize money, etc.“, Matt says.

"Golf has been phenomenal to be throughout my career. I started out as a very average high school player and progressed to receive a full college scholarship. I want other kids to experience this great family sport,” Matt says, “I have great memories of playing golf with my family growing up.  Golf teaches you a lot about life. We have schools and Sections from across the country calling us about our SNAG-A-School program."

Can we call you SNAG BOB!?

Sir Robert James Charles (Sir Bob), is a New Zealand professional golfer whose achievements over five decades rank him among the most successful left-handed golfers of all time, being the first lefty to win a golf major, winning more than 70 titles, and beating his age twice during a tournament as a 71 year-old. Charles is a sporting hero in New Zealand, not only for his achievements but also for his demeanour and philanthropy regarding junior golfers. He was also a role model worldwide for left-handed golfers. Charles was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) from Queen Elizabeth in 1972 and advanced to Commander in the same Order in 1992. He became Sir Bob Charles in 1999 when made a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. To learn more about Sir Bob, click HERE.

SNAG® Golf used for Boys and Girls Clubs of America pilot program

We are excited by the success of using the SNAG® Golf Coaching System for the pilot program with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America conducted by the PGA and USGA to help grow and develop junior golf nationwide!!

 

It is encouraging to see that all four of the pilot sites used the SNAG® Golf Coaching System to get kids involved in golf and they all had positive results. Kirk Douglas, Player Development division of the PGA of America, trained the instructors at each of the four Boys and Girls Clubs on how to use the SNAG® Golf Coaching System.


The pilot program allowed the kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs the chance to learn the basics of golf in a FUN, engaging, and safe way using SNAG® (Starting New At Golf) equipment and programming. SNAG® Golf is used globally to teach beginning golfers of all ages the fundamentals of the game. TO DEVELOP NEXT GENERATION OF GOLFERS

 

"Official Youth Development Partner" of The PGA and USGA to Introduce Golf to the Boys & Girls Clubs' Network of 4 Million Kids Nationwide

 

ATLANTA and PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - As part of a historic long-term strategic alliance, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) was announced today as an "Official Youth Development Partner" of The PGA of America and United States Golf Association (USGA).  With programming to launch in 2012, this partnership with the BGCA will impact the lives of youth across America through the introduction of the game of golf.

 

"The PGA of America is extremely proud to join hands with Boys & Girls Clubs of America," said PGA President Allen Wronowski. "There are 2.5 million kids currently playing golf nationwide, and through this partnership, we want to share the fun of golf with more of America's children. Our missions are positively aligned, as we work together to help kids achieve academic success, build character and develop healthy lifestyles through golf." 

 

"The USGA has a longstanding commitment to supporting programs that introduce the game of golf and the fun and the skills it offers to our nation's young people," said USGA President Jim Hyler. "We are very pleased to team up with The PGA of America and Boys & Girls Clubs of America on this ambitious new program, continuing our commitment to make a difference in the lives of young people throughout the country."

 

Based on a successful pilot project first tested in 2010, the new partnership will feature golf programming and instruction taught by PGA Professionals, along with support from Boys & Girls Clubs' staff and community volunteers. The program is expected to roll out next year at 50 BGCA sites, hosting between 50 and 100 kids each.  The goal is to introduce golf to tens of thousands of kids nationwide.

 

The bulk of the program will take place at Boys & Girls Clubs facilities, where the PGA Sports Academy curriculum and activities will be utilized to provide introductory experiences. The PGA Sports Academy combines golf skills and physical fitness in high energy activities that focus on play, as well as instruction. The Club members will enjoy field trips to local golf courses and additional programs will be developed, including low-cost course access for those kids who want to continue to take their new-found interest in golf to the next level.

Jack Nicklaus/ Boys & Girls Club use SNAG® Golf to kick off PGA Show!

Picture: Jack Nicklaus, Ken Griffey Jr., Boys & Girls Club members, and PGA executives officially kicked off the 2012 PGA Show using our SNAG® Golf  equipment. The SNAG® Player Paks given to them by the PGA were very special as they had the PGA of America colors and logo.

 

PGA of America President, Allen Wronowski, introduced two Central Florida branch members of the Boys & Girls Club of America (Thomas Brenard and Phoenix Walker) to offically kick off the 2012 PGA Show "in Golf 2.0 fashion” by using SNAG® Golf equipment. Thomas and Phoenix both used a SNAG® Golf Launcher to hit SNAG® Balls into the crowd.

Southwest Section PGA & SNAG Golf Announce Partnership to Grow Golf

The Southwest Section PGA has announced its commitment to a long term partnership with SNAG Golf.  In an effort to continue growing the game and adding value to the Play Golf America experience, the Southwest Section PGA has entered into an alliance with SNAG Golf & their representative SNAG Arizona. 

 

The number of people participating in golf continues to drop so it’s of vital importance the PGA Professional takes a leadership position in analyzing and recommending the best strategies to move the industry forward. “The teaching principles and techniques utilized by SNAG Golf are an effective way to develop new players and grow the game”, states Michael Haywood, President of the Southwest Section PGA and member of the PGA of America’s National Board of Directors. “The alliance will be of great benefit for the Section and include through SNAG’s representative, SNAG Arizona, an annual contribution to the Southwest Section PGA Foundation”, states Haywood, “In addition there are multiple opportunities being established for player development training programs to be included in the Southwest Section PGA Education Program.”

 

The Southwest Section PGA is not alone in believing there should be a more concentrated focus on growing the game through initiatives geared towards family and kid friendly golf. “SNAG Golf will be part of our efforts toward a new outlook in player development.  It will be important for the Southwest Section PGA to embrace different vehicles of delivery, while focusing on the key growth strategies of Golf 2.0 as it pertains to new learners in the game,” states Haywood.
