The Frankciscans

In 208 A.D., followers of Frankciscus called Frankciscans left their monastery in Normandy to find converts for their SNAG™ beliefs in the New World. This would be a treacherous mission, as most believed that the world was flat. This arduous sea journey took more than one year to accomplish. During the journey, the Frankciscan monks introduced SNAG™ to the crew for them to enjoy. Passengers created on-deck games that included hitting at targets on the sails to keep them entertained.

Upon landing in the New World, they were met by the indigenous Mayans. The Mayans did not respond in a friendly manner to the Frankciscans and their entourage. They captured the Frankciscans at spearpoint and kept them confined in a quarry.

The Frankciscans

To pass the time, the Frankciscans played SNAG™. The Mayan guards were smitten by the game. They incorporated SNAG™ into their rituals of sacrificing victims to appease their gods by giving the designated victim a sporting chance. If the victim could beat the high priest, he or she would be freed. If not, they were thrown off the cliff surrounding their temple as a sacrifice to appease their gods. The Mayan people loved it. This was what would come to be known as a "sacrifice fly." History would later find another use for that term in sports.

The King eventually freed all the remaining Frankciscans and banished them to the far side of their land. There, they built two ships to carry them back to the Old World. During what they thought was a straight shot home, they encountered a terrible storm that separated the two ships sending one due north and the other due west. One would eventually land in the Aleutian Islands near Alaska, the other in a chain of south Pacific islands inhabited by cannibals.
